On Tuesday, November 6, 2018 the voters of Sangamon County and the residents of Williamsville and Sherman will be asked to approve a proposal to provide funding to all Sangamon County school districts through a 1-cent sales tax increase. The revenue from this sales tax can only be used to maintain and improve school facilities or to make payments on existing bond debt.
In schools that thrive in communities such as ours, we educate the students of each other’s neighbors, friends, and family members. Such close-knit relationships result in high expectations for our schools as well as the educational programming and services we provide, and justifiably so. The 1-cent County Schools Facility Tax is a way for the communities of Williamsville and Sherman to provide a revenue source for our schools to make improvements in school security and safety, make facility repairs, improvements, and upgrades so that our students may learn in a quality educational environment for many years to come.
A sit down with Superintendent Mr. Reedy to discuss the Sangamon County School Facility Sales Tax that will be on the ballot on Tuesday, November 6. Mr. Reedy gives a detailed breakdown of what the tax is, what will be taxed, and how it would help WCUSD #15. This episode contains a lot of good information so voters can be educated when the go to the voting booth on November 6.
