WCUSD#15 Parents, Families, & Students
I apologize for the short notice, but I have been able to finalize and evaluate our local data this afternoon. I appreciate all the community support, input, feedback, and recommendation emails. This decision is based on staff input, administrative feedback, staffing concerns with lack of substitutes, local Williamsville & Sherman COVID-19 data, Sangamon County COVID-19 data, and current increases in COVID-19 positive cases within the district, Sangamon County, and the State of Illinois.
Today, we have been notified of 21 positive COVID-19 cases connected to WCUSD#15. (16 students and 5 staff)
I wanted to inform you we will be switching to Full Remote Learning December 1-18. https://youtu.be/O35uDUtscbw
- Sangamon County COVID-19 and area numbers continue to increase
- Availability of local hospital beds are decreasing
- Local District COVID-19 positives, quarantines, and exposures are increasing
- We simply do not have the staff or available substitutes for in-person learning
Our building campuses will be open for teachers to invite/schedule small groups of students for instruction.
SES Pre-K and Structured students will still attend 5 days per week.
Students in grades 5-12 will be expected to follow their bell schedule, be online during required times, and daily engaged remotely.
Please contact your child's building principal or teacher with additional questions or information.
We all prefer and understand the importance of in-person learning, unfortunately we can't accomplish this. During this challenging time, Full Remote Learning is our best academic option for our students and staff.
