It is impossible not to notice the daily headlines in the local newspapers and media outlets dealing with the State’s budget crisis and the impact it is having on public schools in Central Illinois and all across the State. For Williamsville Schools, we are projected to lose close to another $600,000 in pro-rated General State Aid revenue this year, and that doesn’t count the millions we’ve not received from the State in revenue over the past several years. Moreover, future years will continue to be tight because of the State’s financial problems and it is apparent the State’s financial problems will not be solved in the near future. Let there be no mistake about it, this is going to continue to be a very lean time for our school district. This State’s financial problem is very real. It will take every cent and every cost savings measure to maintain our educational programs throughout these difficult times.
