David J. Root 1974-2016

The Williamsville-Sherman School District is profoundly grateful to have been led by Mr. David J. Root.

Mr. Root lived a life to be emulated.  He possessed not only the qualities of a leader and mentor, but also those of a good friend.

Mr. Root’s financial acumen was second to none.  He worked tirelessly to help make the Williamsville-Sherman school district a premier school district in Illinois, all while ensuring he treated people the way he wanted to be treated.

His legacy of strength, grace, perseverance and a wonderful sense of humor will live on forever.

Our school family has suffered several immeasurable losses and this is no exception.

Mr. Root remains close to our hearts and minds as we prepare ourselves to continue the work he began in a way that will prove worthy of honoring his memory.

We ask that you join us in keeping his precious Julie, Mia and Dalton in your thoughts and prayers.

Visitation was held at the Williamsville Jr. High School Gymnasium on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 1:00 until 6:00 PM.

Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Jeff Goeckner, was held at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
